Conversions between Parametric and Implicit Forms Using Polar/Spherical Coordinate Representations
نویسندگان
چکیده
Since parametric and implicit forms have complementary advantages with respect to certain geometric operations, it can be useful to convert from one form to the other. In this paper, a new method for converting between parametric and implicit forms based on polar/spherical coordinate representations is introduced. c © 2001 Academic Press

Compact integration factor methods for complex domains and adaptive mesh refinement
Implicit integration factor (IIF) method, a class of efficient semi-implicit temporal scheme, was introduced recently for stiff reaction-diffusion equations. To reduce cost of IIF, compact implicit integration factor (cIIF) method was later developed for efficient storage and calculation of exponential matrices associated with the diffusion operators in two and three spatial dimensions for Cart...
متن کاملImplicit Surface Modeling using Supershapes and R-functions
We propose a method to represent solid objects as multiple combinations of globally deformed supershapes. Our approach handles primitives that have both parametric and implicit representations. An implicit equation with guaranteed di erential properties is obtained by combinations of the primitives' implicit representations using R-functions. The surface corresponding to the zero-set of the imp...
متن کاملRegression Modeling for Spherical Data via Non-parametric and Least Square Methods
Introduction Statistical analysis of the data on the Earth's surface was a favorite subject among many researchers. Such data can be related to animal's migration from a region to another position. Then, statistical modeling of their paths helps biological researchers to predict their movements and estimate the areas that are most likely to constitute the presence of the animals. From a geome...

متن کاملA fast method for solving both the time-dependent Schrödinger equation in angular coordinates and its associated "m-mixing" problem.
An efficient split-operator technique for solving the time-dependent Schrödinger equation in an angular coordinate system is presented, where a fast spherical harmonics transform accelerates the conversions between angle and angular momentum representations. Unlike previous techniques, this method features facile inclusion of azimuthal asymmetries (solving the "m-mixing" problem), adaptive time...
